I always enjoy working with different brands from around the U.S. and other countries. This week, I have the pleasure to work with Korβáta, a Guatemalan tie-making company, to showcase one of their uniquely-designed ties. What sets Korβáta‘s ties from others is that they are 100% cotton woven and handmade in Guatemala. Furthermore, each of their ties carry a certain story and meaning with the design. The specific one that I am wearing, the Laguna Yaxhá, symbolizes the ceremonial güipil from Peten, the northernmost department from Guatemala. The intricate design and the multiple contrasting colors of the tie are eye-catching, making this one of my favorites of their ties. I hope to one day visit Guatemala to experience their culture and learn their history first-hand. Until then, this tie brings me close to Korßáta’s home.
